The temple has a beautiful idol of Bhagwan Pashupatinath, which weighs 4600 kg, has an upright height of 7.25 feet and a curved height of 11.25 feet. Each mukha has its own name which is mentioned here: Sharva, Bhadra, Rudra, Ugra, Bhima, Pashupati, Mahadev, Ishaan. The famous temple has four doors that lead to four different directions, for example north, south, east and west.
The stone on which a washerman named Uda used to wash clothes was the idol of Bhagwan Pashupatinath. It is said that one day when he was sleeping, Bhagwan Shankar himself came to him and said that the stone on which you wash clothes is one of my eight incarnations.
Hearing this, Uda asked his friends and everyone else to take out the idol from the river. The idol was so huge and heavy that even a pair of 16 vines were unable to pull it, but with the help of people the idol was taken out. When the idol was taken out of the river a miracle happened. The statue moved from that river to this corner, but cheers were made to move it so that it could be installed in a better place away from the river. The place from where the statue did not move. Today a huge temple of Bhagwan Pashupatinath is built at that place. Due to lack of funds the temple could not be constructed for about 18 years.
Pashupatinath Temple Mandsaur is believed to be built in the Nagara style by the Parmar dynasty in the 11th century. The temple complex consists of a main shrine, a pavilion and a shikhara. The main temple is made of red sandstone and decorated with intricate carvings. The mandapam is a large pillared hall that is used for religious ceremonies. Shikhar is the huge spire of the temple and symbolizes the divine power of Bhagwan Shiva. The temple is adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures depicting various scenes from Hindu mythology.

The temple remains open throughout the week and darshan timings are from 5 am to 10 pm. Mangala Aarti and Shirangar Aarti take place at 07:30 PM, Abhishek Puja at 10:00 AM, Rajbhog Aarti at 11:00 AM, Shirangar Aarti at 4:00 PM and Sandhya Aarti at 7:00 PM.
