There are many such places in the whole country associated with Lord Shiva, where the miracles of Bholenath have been seen. One such place is Manimahesh and it is said that Lord Shiva meditated here for centuries. Since then this mountain has become mysterious. The Leela of Bholenath is very unique. He gives darshan to the devotees. He has many dhams on earth. One of them is Manimahesh, it is located in Himachal Pradesh's, Chamba district. This place is also known as Chamba Kailash.
Reason behind Manimahesh's name:
There is a special reason for naming this place Manimahesh. According to scholars, Shiva is seated on the top of the mountain in the form of Sheshnag Mani. He is visible to the devotees in this form. Apart from this, the word also means Nagina in the crown of Mahesh.
Manimahesh Parvat changes color with the rays of the sun
Shiva is seen in the middle of the evening and at night on the Manimahesh mountain. At sunset, when the rays of the sun fall on the top of the mountain, the whole scene becomes golden. When the weather is clear, devotees can see the top of the mountain and Shiva seated on it. Local people believe that Lord Shiva created this mountain named Manimahesh by marrying Mother Parvati. A Shivling is built on the top of the mountain. It is believed that Lord Shiva took this form to stay here. People still worship this Shivling.
It is believed that till date no one has measured the height of this mountain. It is not difficult to climb this mountain but the one who went up did not return.
How to start Manimahesh Yatra?
Chamba Manimahesh Bharmour Yatra has special significance. It is believed that Manimahesh Yatra is incomplete without taking bath in Brahmani Kund. Let's start our journey to Manimahesh in Chamba district of Himachal, below this mountain lies the sacred Manimahesh Lake. People visit this peak from here.
It is impossible to climb Manimahesh mountain like Kailash. Whoever tries to climb here, some invisible force stops him. In 1968, a team of Indo-Japanese led by Nandini Patel tried to climb this mountain, but they were unsuccessful. It is said that the top part of the peak is always covered with clouds. Only those people come to this summit who remember Lord Shiva with a sincere heart.
Devotees can visit this place on foot, horse ride or by helicopter.
