Kapaleeshwarar temple is dedicated to Bhagwan Shiva which is located in Mylapore, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The form of shiva's consort Parvati worshipped at this temple is called Karpagambal (Devi of the wish-yielding). The temple was built around the 7th century in Dravidian architecture by the ruling Pallavas.

This place has a spiritual significance. As per history due to a curse, Devi Parvati became a peacock and did penance to get back into her original form. Day by day she worshipped the shiv lingam and later she regained her original form. Bhagwan Shiva is known by Kapaleeshwarar and his consort Devi Parvati is known by Karpagambal. People come here to fulfill their wishes and desires. A very peaceful temple indeed. On the premises, you find Vinayak temple, Shani temple, navgrah temple, Murugan temple, etc. The temple has a big water tank and the Mylapore tank float festival is very famous.
The temple shows the South Indian aspects and it is good to see that they kept it well maintained. Some cows are nurtured inside the temple and many sculptures of Bhagawan’s are kept here. This place is one of the most visited places in Chennai city. Maha Shivratri is the prime festival that is celebrated in a grand way other cultural festivals are also celebrated inside the temple premises during important days. This place is full of positive vibrations.
The temple has a two-wheeler parking area for devotees. A free shoe stand is also provided for the devotees. Temple is very well connected to the city one can easily reach by city bus, local train, Chennai metro, etc.
