The
ancient Shri Batuk Bhairav Temple is the first among the temples built by the Pandavas. The face of Bhairav Baba and the Trishul of Baba with two big eyes are visible in his magnificence.
Mythology:
The Pandavas had organized Yagya several times for the protection of their fort. But the demons used to break the yagya repeatedly, then Bhagwan Krishna suggested that Bhagwan Bhairav should be installed in the fort to protect the fort. Going to Kashi, Bhim worshiped Baba and urged Baba to go to Indraprath.
Baba told Bhim, wherever he puts him first, he will sit there. Bhim took Baba on his shoulder and left for Indraprath, on the way for some reason Bhim had to give Baba Bhairav to a traveler for a while. But the traveler left without waiting for Bhim to make Bhairav sit on the bank of the well. When Bhim returned, he tried a lot to lift Bhairavji but did not succeed. Bhim again requested and said that I have come with a promise to my brothers.
On Bhim's prayer, Bhairav Baba gave him his hair, and said that these hair should be installed near your fort. In times of trouble, these hairs will scream and I will come to your rescue. The same temple is today known as Shri Kilkari Baba Bhairav Nath Ji Temple.
