Shri Ananta Basudev Temple - श्री अनंत वासुदेव मंदिर

Shri Ananta Vasudeva Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Krishna, an avatar of Lord Vishnu. The temple was constructed in the thirteenth century, and the complete murtis of Shri Krishna, Bhagwan Balarama and Devi Subhadra are worshipped there. Prabhu Balarama stands under a seven hooded serpent, Devi Subhadra holds Jewels pot and lotus in her two hands keeping her left foot over another jewel pot, while Shri Krishna holds a mace, chakra, lotus and Sankh(conch). The temple dates back to the period of Chandrika Devi, the daughter of Anangabhima III, during the reign of the king Bhanudeva.

Shri Ananta Basudev Temple is architecturally replica of the Jagannath Dham 200 feet far from Lingaraj Temple built on the east side of Bindu Sagar Pushkarini.

The Murti's found in the garbhagrha (sanctum sanctorum) of the temple have complete structure unlike the images of the Jagannath Temple, Puri. Here the Trimurti’s (idols) are made of black granite stone, rather than neem wood, as seen in the Puri temple. For this temple, only the city gains its name as Chakra kshetra (circular place), whereas Puri is named Shankha Kshetra (curved place).

Like Shri Jagannath Mandir Puri, in Ananta Basudev temple Mahaprasad (Abadha) offered as Bhog. Devotees can buy this prasad and eat it in Mandir premises too.
