Bhagwan Ram killed Ravan and ended the war and freed Mata Sita from the clutches of Ravan. This is known as the victory of truth over falsehood. This festival is known as Vijayadashami due to the victory of Shri Ram on the tenth day. According to another incident before the Ramayan, Devi Durga had conquered Mahishasura on the day after the war.
A few days before Vijayadashami, the organizing of the fair and Ramlila starts. On Vijayadashami, a huge effigy of Ravan is made and burnt by Bhagwan Ram. Vijayadashami marks the concluding day of the six-day long Durga Puja festival. In some places, there is also a law of worshiping weapons on the day of Vijayadashami.

Mysore Dussehra is a 10-day long festival celebrated to the victory of Goddess Durga over Mahishasura, under which the idol of Chamundeshwari Devi is worshiped in the Mysore Palace.
Along with processions, cultural events, fairs, exhibitions, Mysore Dussehra is the most wonderfully celebrated festival of India.
