According to Hindu religious belief, fasting of Bhagwan Satyanarayan and listening to the story gives virtuous results. Shri Satyanarayana Puja is performed to seek the blessings of Shri Narayana who is one of the forms of Bhagwan Vishnu. In this form the Bhagwan is considered to be the embodiment of Truth. Though there is no fixed day to perform Satyanarayan Puja, it is considered extremely auspicious to do it during Purnima or Purnima.
Mythology of Satyanarayan Puja and Vrat
According to the legend, once Narad ji said to Bhagwan Vishnu that Hey Bhagwan, everyone on earth seems to be very sad, isn't there any solution for this. On this, Bhagwan Vishnu said that everyone's sufferings go away by observing Satyanarayan's fast. He said that whoever worships the truth considering it to be God, all his sins will be cut off and he will get good results.
