Chaturthi of every month is considered to be the day of worship of Bhagwan Shri Ganesh. Magh Krishna Chaturthi is celebrated as Sakat Chauth. On this day, women fast for the longevity and success of their children. And after the disturbance, Shri Ganesha gives Riddhi-siddhi to his children.
During the fasting routine, women keep the Nirjala (without water) fast throughout the day and in the evening, worship Bhagwan Ganesh and take water only after offering Arghya to the Moon.
Sakat Chauth fast in Rajasthan is dedicated to Mata Sakat. Sankat Chauth Mata Temple is located in village Sakat, 60 km from Alwar.
It is glorified to offer laddus, reed, sweet potato (ganji), guava, jaggery and ghee made of sesame and jaggery as naivedya, therefore Sakat Chauth is also known as Til Chauth and Tilkut Chauth.
