The birthday of Bhagwan Nityananda is known as Nityananda Trayodashi. This festival takes place in the spring. Bhagwan Nityananda incarnates with Bhagwan Vishnu in all his incarnations. Nityananda Prabhu was the first disciple of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, and is also called Nitai.
He has descended with Bhagwan Krishna as his beloved brother Balaram, and with Bhagwan Sri Ram as his younger brother Laxman. Prabhu Nityananda is known to pity even the most fallen of creatures. Devotees keep fast till noon on this day, and after that they eat.
Nityananda Prabhu was born around 1474 in Ekchakra, a small village in the present Indian state of West Bengal. His father Sri Hada Ojha and mother Padmavati were originally from a sacred Brahman family of Mithila. Nityananda Prabhu was born on the day of Trayodashi of Shukla Paksha of the month of Magha.
