Narad Jayanti is celebrated as the manifestation day of Narad ji, an exclusive devotee of Bhagwan Shri Vishnu. And they are worshiped, due to which the person gets strength, intelligence and sattwik power.
Narad ji is considered to be the best among rishi and muni, hence he is also called Narad Muni. Narad ji is also considered as the world's first journalist. Narad Muni had the boon of roaming anywhere in the entire universe. Narad ji had shown the path of devotion by giving knowledge to Dhruva and Prahlad.
Narad Jayanti occurs only on the next day of Buddha Purnima, in the absence of Pratipada Tithi, it can also happen on Buddha Purnima.
Narad Purana, one of the total 18 Puranas, is dedicated to the sage Narad Muni. In the 26th verse of the tenth Adhyay Vibhutiyoga of Shrimad Bhagwad Gita, Bhagwan Krishna addressed the greatness of Naradji to Arjun in this way:
अश्वत्थः सर्ववृक्षाणां
देवर्षीणां च नारदः । (अर्थात देवर्षियों में नारद हूँ)
गन्धर्वाणां चित्ररथः सिद्धानां कपिलो मुनिः ॥10.26॥
