Nag Panchami is the festival of snakes, people pray and milk bath to snaks. Nagdev is worshiped as protector of his area, therefore in some places he has also been called Kshetrapal.

On the holy festival of Nag Panchami, a big fair is organized at Nag Kuan in Varanasi/Kashi. Generally, this festival is celebrated two days after the Hariyali Teej. On the day of Nag Panchami, wrestling/dangal is held in many villages and towns in which the surrounding wrestlers also participate.

Story behind Nag Panchami
Bhagwan Krishna defeated the serpent Kalia, and after realizing that Krishna was no ordinary child, the snake and his wives begged for his life. Krishna spared his life after he promised him that he would no longer trouble the residents of Gokul. Nag Panchami is celebrated to celebrate the victory of Krishna over Kalia the serpent.

There is also a belief regarding this festival that by pleasing the serpent god, Bhagwan Shiva is also pleased with you and your wishes are fulfilled. Every year on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha of Sawan month, the festival of Nag Panchami is celebrated with great enthusiasm and enthusiasm.

Puja Vidhi on Nag Panchami
◉ On the day of Nag Panchami, wake up before sunrise and take bath etc. After this, worship Bhagwan Shiva as well as the serpent god and take a vow of worship.
◉ Place a picture of a snake deity at the place of worship or make a snake deity out of clay and install it on a post by laying a red cloth.
◉ Worship Nag Devta by offering turmeric, roli, rice, raw milk and flowers. After that, mix raw milk, ghee and sugar and offer it to the snake god.
◉ On the day of Nag Panchami, offer milk and water to the idol of the snake god from a copper vessel. If possible, keep a silver snake-serpent pair in the temple and worship it. This makes both the serpent god and Bhagwan Shiva happy.

Importance of worship of Nag Panchami
It is said that worshiping snakes on the day of Nag Panchami destroys the troubles of life. At the same time, the desired fruit is obtained. Apart from this, if a person sees snakes on this day, then it is considered very auspicious.
