There are usually twelve or thirteen Shivratri Vrat in a year that falls on the day of Chaturdashi before the new moon, hence this fast is also called Masik Shivratri. It is considered an auspicious day for bhagwan Shiv and Devi Parvati. Maha Shivaratri and Sawan Shivaratri are the most famous one. This festival signifies an immense power of the universe emerged in bhagwan Shiv.

This popular Hindu fast is dedicated to Bhagwan Shiva and Mata Parvati. Any vrat or worship gives best results only when it is done in the right way. So let's know what is the correct method and rituals to observe Masik Shivratri vrat.

What is Masik Shivratri Vrat`s Puja Vidhi?

❀ On Chaturdashi Tithi, wake up in the morning and take a bath and wear white clothes.
❀ Ignite diya in front of god and take the vow of fast.
❀ After fasting for the whole day, worship should be done in a temple during the Pradosh period.
❀ If you cannot go to the temple, then worship should be done by installing Shivling in a clean place of worship or house.
❀ Abhishek should be done on Shivling with milk, curd, honey, ghee, Belpatra and Gangajal.
❀ Keep chanting the Panchakshari mantra Namah Shivay of Shiva during the worship and abhishek.
