Sharad Kojagari Puja is dedicated to Mata Lakshmi during Ashwin Purnima in Indian states such as Odisha, West Bengal and Assam. This day of Lakshmi Puja is also known as Kojagari Purnima or Bangla Lakshmi Puja. However, most people in India worship Mata Lakshmi on the day of Diwali.
This festival is also called Kojagari Purnima due to Kojagari worship. This full moon is famous as Sharad Purnima in North India. According to Hinduism, on this night Lakshmi Mata walks around to see who is awakening at night. Mahalakshmi performs welfare of the person who awakes at night.
The night of Kojagari Purnima is considered more special than Deepawali because on this night Mata Lakshmi herself comes to give property to her devotees. It is said that if you want to get the treasure of wealth on this night, then you must worship Mata Lakshmi.
