Story of six constellations
Many stories and poems have been written about the six constellations. According to Hindu beliefs, there are six celestial devi, who brought up six infants and together appeared as the Bhagwans of six faces. Hence they are called Kartikeya. He is known as Kartikeya, the second son of Bhagwan Shiva.
According to mythology, Bhagwan Shiva created Muruga with his third eye. The names of these six constellations are Tattpurusha, Aghoram, Sadyojatam, Vamadeva, Isanam and Adhomukham. Bhagwan Muruga is known by these six names. Therefore, worship of any one of these six constellations is as effective as the worship of Bhagwan Muruga. They are worshiped by lighting a lamp in a row. On the day of this puja, devotees light a lamp in the house courtyard. It is also known as Karthigai Deepam and Bhagwan Muruga Jayanti.

Why do Karthigai Deepam Celebrate?
Of course festivals are more celebrated in India, the special thing is that there is some reason behind them all. If there is any story and its facts, then there is also reason to celebrate Karthigai Deepam. We are telling you why Karthigai Deepam is celebrated in South India.
It is believed that on this day Bhagwan Shiva appeared in front of Bhagwan Vishnu and Bhagwan Brahma as an endless lamp. The reason for this incarnation of Shiva was to choose the best of the two Bhagwans. Bhagwan Brahma and Vishnu both had differences over who is the best among them.
Here Shiva ji had transformed himself into an infinite lamp crest and asked the two deities to ask you to find the beginning and end of this Deep Shikha i.e. the head and stage of Bhagwan Shiva. To do this work, Brahma took the form of a bird and Vishnu ji took the form of a pig. But both the Bhagwans failed to find the beginning and end of the fire. But Bhagwan Brahma said that he had seen the head of Bhagwan Shiva.
But Brahma ji was lying and Bhagwan Shiva understood this thing. And because of this lie Bhagwan Shiva said that no temple of Bhagwan Brahma will be built on earth. And thus Bhagwan Vishnu became superior to Bhagwan Brahma. On this day people worship Bhagwan Shiva. And later this day came to be celebrated as Karthikeya Mahadeepam.
Hence this puja is done to please Bhagwan Shiva. This puja can also be done in small form every month. There are many stories and history associated with this worship too. But the special thing is that this festival is celebrated in South India with the same fervor and joy as Diwali is celebrated in North India with great enthusiasm.
