Every year the birth anniversary of Sant Kabir Das Ji is celebrated on the full moon date of Jyestha month. Nothing is said with precision about the birth of Saint Kabirdas. According to some evidence, Kabir Das Ji was born in Kashi in 1398 AD. Saint Kabir Das was such a poet of Hindi literature, who continued to condemn the evils and superstitions spread in the society throughout his life. Kabirdas ji was not only a saint but he was also a thinker and social reformer. He has given many lessons to live life through his dohas. His dohas were in very simple language, due to which anyone can understand those dohas easily.
Significance of Kabir Jayanti
There are many differences regarding the birth of Kabir Das ji. On the basis of some facts, it is believed that with the blessings of Ramanand Guru, he was born from the womb of a widow Brahmin and for fear of public shame, she left Kabirdas near the pond named Lahartara in front of Kashi, after which he started walking on that path. They were brought up by a weaver named Lei and Loima passing by. On the other hand, some scholars are of the opinion that Kabirdas was a Muslim by birth and he got the knowledge of the name of Ram from Guru Ramanand.
Kabirdas ji removed the misconceptions prevalent in the minds of the people with his dohas and made a scathing attack on the fundamentalism of religion. He said many dohas to improve the society. For this reason, he was called a social reformer.
It is said that Kabir's followers were from all religions, so when he died, there was a dispute between both Hindus and Muslims regarding his last rites. It is said that in the midst of this dispute, when the sheet was removed from the dead body, there were only flowers. People distributed these flowers among themselves and performed the last rites according to their religion.
