Tithi: Falgun Shukla Purnima
Holika Dahan is also known as Chhoti Holi, Basant Purnima and Phalgun Purnima, and in South India it is also known as Kama Dahan. On the first day, the auspicious time for Holika Dahan is to light the fire after sunset. Which happens a day before the main Holi day in which colors are played. So the next day in the morning people start playing Holi with dry and wet colours.

Tithi: Chaitra Krishna Pratipada
On the second day of Holi, people daubing colour over each other with different colors of gulal or colored water, this process of getting drenched in colors is often referred to as playing Holi. Rangwali Holi, it is the main Holi day and is pronounced as Dhulandi or Dhulendi. Other popular name of Dhulandi is Dhuleti. The most popular slogan of the day is Bura Na Mano Holi Hai.

Similar to Bhai Dooj on Diwali, Dwitiya after Holi is a day of intermingling. Holi is played for two days in Braj region. On the evening of the second day, people wear new clothes and meet friends, relatives and neighbors to distribute sweets. The beginning of Holi Milan has started from this tradition. This day of Duj is also known as Bhai Duj, Bhratri Dwitiya and Duji.

The festival of Holi celebrated on the fifth day of Chaitra is called Rang Panchami. This festival is celebrated in different regions of India with different methods and reasons. Just a month before Holi, from the day of Magh Shukla Purnima, people celebrating Holi, choosing the most sacred place around them, start collecting and keeping the materials related to Holika Dahan there. Then Holika Dahan starts from this holy place and reaches all the houses.

Phulera Duj, which is celebrated on Shukla Dwitiya of Phalgun month, is considered a symbol of Holi arrival. The festival of Phulera Duj is celebrated with great pomp in the villages of North India. It is believed that the original temple of Prahladpuri was built by Prahlad, the son of Hiranyakashyap. Prahladpuri Temple is an ancient Hindu temple located in the city of Multan, Pakistan. The temple is named after Prahlad, an ardent devotee of Bhagwan Vishnu, and is dedicated to Bhagwan Narasimha. Presently it is in ruins, in 1992 this temple was destroyed by Pakistani terrorists.
