Birth anniversary of Bhagwan Hayagriva who is believed to be an incarnation of Bhagwan Vishnu. Bhagwan Hayagriva is considered the god of knowledge and wisdom. Hayagriva Jayanti is celebrated on the full moon day of the month of Shravana (Shravan Purnima) according to the traditional Hindu calendar. Bhagwan Hayagriva is believed to have restored all the Vedas to Brahma. Hayagriva is a unique incarnation of Bhagwan Vishnu with the head of a horse and the body of a human. This day is celebrated by the Brahmin community as Upakarma Divas.
Hayagriva Jayanti Puja Dhyan Mantra
ब्रह्मा ऋषि: । अनुष्टुप् छन्द: । श्री हयग्रीव: परमात्मा देवता ।
हकारं बीजं । यकारं शक्ति: । ग्रीवः कीलकम् ।
श्रीहयग्रीव-प्रसाद-सिद्धयर्थे जपे विनियोग: ॥

Significance of Hayagriva Jayanti
Hayagriva is one of the 24 incarnations of Bhagwan Vishnu. When the demons took the Vedas and hostage Brahma ji, Bhagwan Hayagriva restored the Vedas and Brahma ji in this incarnation. Bhagwan Hayagriva has a head like that of a horse or haya, therefore, he is known as Hayagriva. In many regions, Bhagwan Hayagriva is believed to be the guardian deity (Sarankhyak Devta) who incarnated to ward off evil. In this incarnation, the horse's head is considered a symbol of higher education and knowledge. The blessings of Bhagwan Hayagriva help us to attain greater heights.

Bhagwan Hayagriva is depicted as Bhagwan Vishnu, having the body of a human and the head of a horse, wearing white complexion, white dress and sitting on a white lotus. The festival of Avani Avittam is also celebrated on the day of Hayagriva Jayanti. This is an occasion when the old Yajnopavit; The one which is known as Janeu is replaced by a new Janeu. Bhagwan Brahma is also worshiped on this day. Students worship Bhagwan Hayagriva for blessings to attain knowledge. Grand celebrations are held on this day at the Bhagwan Hayagriva Temple in Assam and the Hayagriva Temple in Nanganallur Chennai, which is known as the Hayagriva Madhava Temple.
Hayagriva Jayanti Puja Vidhi
❀ While worshiping Sri Hayagriva ji, sit facing the east and north directions.
❀ First of all worship Bhagwan Shri Ganesha. After bathing Shri Ganesh ji, offer clothes to him. Worship with fragrance, flowers, incense, lamp, Akshat.
❀ After that, now worship Bhagwan Hayagriva, first bath the god with Panchamrit and water, offer clothes to him. Wear jewelry after clothes. Now wear a garland. Now do Tilak.
❀ Apply Tilak to Sri Hayagriva while reciting the mantra “Om Namo Bhagwate Atmavishodhanaya Namah”.
❀ After this, take rice and flowers in your hand and chant this mantra and meditate on Sri Hayagriva.
