Gudi Padwa festival is celebrated every year on Pratipada Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month with great enthusiasm. The Hindu New Year also begins on this day. Primarily celebrated as the beginning of the new year in the state of Maharashtra, Gudi Padwa or Ugadi marks the beginning of the next crop year. The Chaitra Navratri festival also begins on the day of Gudi Padwa.
Significance of Gudi Padwa
Gudi Padwa holds a special place in Hinduism. It is believed that hoisting Gudi at home wards off negative forces from the house and brings luck and prosperity in life. The day also marks the beginning of spring and is considered as a harvest festival. This festival is known by the names of Samvatsar Padvo, Ugadi, Cheti, Navareh, Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheeroba etc. in many other states. Many people believe that it is auspicious to buy gold or a new car on this day.

गुड़ी पड़वा का त्योहार हर साल चैत्र मास के शुक्ल पक्ष की प्रतिपदा तिथि को बड़े उत्साह के साथ मनाया जाता है। इसी दिन से हिन्दू नववर्ष की शुरुआत भी होती है। मुख्य रूप से महाराष्ट्र राज्य में नए साल की शुरुआत के रूप में मनाया जाता है, गुड़ी पड़वा या उगादी अगले फसल वर्ष की शुरुआत का प्रतीक है।
Gudi Padwa Puja Vidhi
❀ On the day of Gudi Padwa, devotees should get up in Brahma Muhurta and take bath etc.
❀ Bhagwan should be worshiped with fragrance, flowers, incense, lamp etc. First of all worship Bhagwan Ganesha and then chant the mantra 'Om Brahmane Namah' 108 times and worship Bhagwan Brahma according to the rules and regulations.
❀ On the day of Gudi Padwa, the flag, or Gudi, is hoisted in front of the house, and colorful rangolis are drawn at the door. The flag is decorated with yellow silk ornaments, flowers and leaves of the mango tree. An auspicious swastika made of vermilion and turmeric is made.
❀ On the day of Gudi Padwa, powder of neem leaves is made and consumed by adding salt, asafoetida, cumin, black pepper,ajwain and sugar candy. By doing this, a person's health is good throughout the year and physical pain also goes away.
It is told in the scriptures that by worshiping the deities on the day of Gudi Padwa, one is blessed with happiness and good health throughout the year.
