🍚Annapurna Vrat - अन्नपूर्णा व्रत

Annapurna Vrat Date: Friday, 6 December 2024

The Mahavrat of Maa Annapurna Mata starts from Krishna Paksha Panchami of the month of Margshish and ends on Margshish Shukla Shashthi. This vrat is of seventeen days. With the commencement of the vrat, devotees wear a thread with 17 knots. In this very strict Mahavrat, fasting fasts give up Anna(Rice) for 17 days. Fruit food is also done at the same time.

Many devotees also observe this fast for 21 days, according to this belief, the fast starts from Marshish Krishna Pratipada and ends on Marshish Shukla Shashti.

Worship method of Annapurna Mata in Vrat
❀ On the day of Annapurna Mata's vrat, wake up early in the morning and take bath and wear clean clothes.
❀ In this way, listen to the Mata Annapurna Katha for sixteen days and worship the thread. Then, when the seventeenth day comes (Sashti of Margashirsha Shukla Paksha), the devotee person should wear white clothes and the woman should wear red clothes. At night, go to the place of worship and establish a Kalpavriksha with paddy plants and install a divine idol of Bhagwati Annapurna under that tree.
❀ Clean the entire house and kitchen, stove and purify it by sprinkling Gangajal.
❀ Offer turmeric, kumkum, rice flowers on the stove. Light the incense lamp.
❀ Along with this, worship Devi Parvati and Shiva. Mata Parvati is Annapurna.
❀ After worshiping duly, pray to the Mata that our house should always be filled with food grains, May Annapurna keep her blessings on us and on the whole family and all beings.
❀ Donate food during these days and feed the needy.

If you cannot vrat during this vrat time, then the vrat can be observed even after having a meal at one time. In this vrat, light a ghee lamp in the morning and read the story of Mata Annapurna and offer food.

अन्नपूर्णे सदापूर्णे शंकर प्राण वल्लभे ।
ज्ञान वैराग्य सिध्यर्थं भिक्षां देहि च पार्वति ॥
माता च पार्वति देवी पिता देवो महेश्वरः ।
बान्धवा शिव भक्ताश्च स्वदेशो भुवनत्रयम् ॥

Foods to Eat during Vrat
Devotees should consume the following food items - Moong Dal, Rice, Barley flour, Arvi, Banana, Potato, Kanda, Moong Dal Pudding. Salt should not be consumed during this vrat.

Auspicious result of vrating of Maa Annapurna Mata

❀ By observing this vrat, one gets longevity, Lakshmi and best children.
❀ Due to the effect of Annapurna vrat, a man never gets separated from son, grandson and wealth.
❀ Mata Annapurna never leaves the house in whose house the story of Annapurna Vrat takes place, Mata Annapurna always resides in the house.
❀ It has been told in the scriptures that by observing the vrat of Maa Annapurna Mata, the stores of food in the house never become empty.
❀ Those who do this vrat, their Sri Lakshmi remains forever. His Lakshmi never gets destroyed.
❀ There is never any tribulation of food and neither does their progeny get destroyed.
❀ All wishes are fulfilled by observing this vrat and circumambulating the Mata.

During this fast, the farmers of Purvanchal offer the first crop of paddy to the mata in the temple. The entire temple courtyard is decorated with paddy earrings. Then on the second day these are distributed to the devotees as Baliya Prasad. If someone keeps any kind of wish in this, then it definitely gets fulfilled. There is a law to circumambulate the temple by keeping a fast. This brings welfare and removes obstacles.
