The fourth day of Krishna Paksha in each month is called Sankashti Chaturthi. Sankashti Chaturthi is considered to be the day of Bhagwan Shri Ganesh and is worshiped on this day. Sankashti Chaturthi which is also known as Sankashta Hara Chaturthi.

When any Sankashti Chaturthi falls on Tuesday, it is called Angarki Chaturthi, and this day is considered highly auspicious in all Sankashti Chaturthi. A person observing fast on the day of Angarki Chaturthi receives blessings from both Bhagwan Ganesha and Mangal Dev. Such a devotee will never face problems and will lead a satisfied and peaceful life. Also, the horoscope of the devotees fasting on this day also helps in eliminating the faults of Mangal.

In South India, Tuesday is considered as the day of Shri Ganesh, but North Indians consider Wednesday as the day of Shri Ganesh.

According to mythology, once Mangal Dev did a very hard tapasya to please Bhagwan Ganesh. Pleased with his harsh penance, Shri Ganeshji appeared and gave a boon (Vardan) to Mangal Dev that whoever fasts on Tuesday, all the obstacles of that person will be overcome by my grace.
