The birth of Hanuman ji is celebrated on two dates throughout the year, the first is on the full moon of Chaitra month and the second date is celebrated on the Chaturdashi of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month. One date is celebrated as Birthday and the other is celebrated as Vijay Abhinandan Mahotsav. There are two stories about his birth anniversary.

There is a belief when Hanuman ji was born from Mata Anjani's stomach when she was very hungry. Then they ran to eat the sun as a fruit, then on the same day Rahu also came to make the sun his grass, but seeing Hanuman ji, he considered it as another Rahu. This day is celebrated as Hanuman Jayanti after the full moon of Chaitra month.

Deepawali is also celebrated as Hanuman Jayanti. Mata Sita, seeing Hanuman's devotion and dedication, gave her the boon of immortality. It is believed that this day was the day of Deepawali. Therefore, this day is also celebrated as Hanuman Jayanti.
