Maharishi Mahesh Yogi was an Indian yoga master known for developing and popularizing Transcendental Meditation, which has been characterized in many ways as a new religious movement and non-religious.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of the Transcendental Meditation movement who taught the Beatles to meditate, made "mantra" a household word in the 1970s. In 1955, the Maharishi began publicly teaching a traditional meditation technique that he had learned from his guru, Brahmananda Saraswati, which he named Transcendental Deep Meditation.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi composed many texts on the knowledge contained in the Vedas. Mahesh Yogi used to use modern techniques to spread his teachings and his teachings. He established the Maharishi Open University through which 'online' education is imparted.
