Mahant Avaidyanath was an Indian politician and Hindu preacher. He was the mentor and mentor of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He played an important role in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.

He was first elected from the Gorakhpur Lok Sabha to the 4th Lok Sabha from the Hindu Mahasabha. After this he was also elected to the 9th, 10th and 11th Lok Sabha. The purpose of Mahantji's entry into politics, a connoisseur of yoga and philosophy, was to remove the evils of Hindu society and to speed up the Ram Mandir movement. To remove the high-low in Hindu religion, he organized daily feasts. For this he went to Banaras with the saints and had food at Domraja's house and gave the message of solidarity of the society.

The unity of Hindu society was at the center of his discourse. Basically they used to support history and Ramcharitmanas. By giving the example of Shri Ram's behavior with Shabari, Jatayu, Nishadraj and Girijans, he used to inspire Dalits and the poor to embrace them.
