Dharm samrat Swami Hariharanand Saraswati (1907–1980) popularly known as swami karpatri (so called because he would eat only what would come in his palm 'kara', as the bowl 'patra'). He was a sannyasi in the hindu dashanami monastic tradition.

Swami karpatri after three years of tapasya in icy caves of himalaya he was ordained as a monk. He was instructed by his guru swami brahmanand saraswati to become a dandi swami. Karpatri ji wasn't too keen but out of respect for his guru he accepted the proposal. He raised the slogan of "akhand bharat" and organized hundreds of meetings to oppose demand for pakistan. Swami karpatri maharaj is a figure who truly represented a staunch traditionalist sanatani viewpoint and the finest representatives of bharatiya sanskriti.

On the day of his death in 1980 (magh shukla chaturdashi) he asked his disciples to sing "ayodhya tyag" of the ramayan for him. He himself recited the sri sukta and finally holding the idol of krishna on his chest, he recited "shiva siva siva" three times and passed away.
