He had sung in more than 20 Indian languages including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Oriya, Bengali, Sindhi, Bhojpuri, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi etc..

Kher began singing at a young age and received training in classical music. He formed his first band, Kailasa, in 1996.
