Sant Kabir Das was a 15th century Indian mystic poet and saint. His writings influenced the Bhakti movement of Hinduism.
He believed in a formless Supreme God and also said that devotion is the only way to salvation. He also preached the lesson of brotherhood of man. He was not a supporter of the caste system.
Guru Nanak was influenced by Kabir. He was a spiritual thinker. Guru Nanak also expressed his thoughts in the form of poetry which was an effective way of disseminating the teachings.
Kabir and Guru Nanak knew that Indians connected with poems and music, and so they adopted poetry as a way to spread their teachings.
Kabir's philosophy about life was very clear. He believed in living life very simply. He firmly believed in the concept of oneness of God. He was a Hindu by tradition but by upbringing he was a Muslim.
