Gopalananda Swami was a prominent saint of the Swaminarayan sect. He was the Paramahamsa of the Swaminarayan sect who was appointed by Swaminarayan. The Swaminarayan sect believes that Gopalananda Swami is considered to be one of the yogis who attained the state of Ashtangayoga or the 8 fold path in the field of sacred yoga.

Gopalananda Swami was appointed the head of both Vadtal and Amdavad countries. Gopalanand Swami arranged to install an idol of Kashtabhanjan Dev Hanumanji in the Sarangpur temple, which is said to have come alive and started moving as soon as he installed it.

Gopalananda Swami wrote 19 books in Sanskrit and 6 books in other languages ​​during his lifetime. He worked for the spread of the Swaminarayan sect and guided many followers.
